About My Library Account & Login Portals

Why do I encounter different login portals when I use the library website?

Many RPL services are offered through 3rd party service providers. As a result, even though each library member only has one library account, you may encounter different login portals when you use different library services.

Don't panic when you see an unfamiliar login portal.
With the exceptions of Hoopla eCollections (tutorial), Zinio eMagazine (tutorial), and OneClick Digital eAudiobooks (tutorial) which need an account set-up, all library services are directly accessible with your library card number (barcode) and your PIN.

When you have a Richmond Public Library card, your card number and PIN (what is a PIN?) will allow you to place holds, renew items, pay fines, update your contact information, book equipment and spaces, and access digital resources through the RPL website.
Note: You can update your PIN online or in person at an RPL branch (locations & hours).

Use the information below to familiarize yourself with the different login portals you may encounter while you use RPL's digital services.

Why do some login portals require an email address instead of a library card number?

Hoopla (eMusic, eVideo, eComics, eBooks, eAudiobooks), OneClickDigital (eAudiobooks) and Zinio (eMagazine) are services that require the user to create an account with a valid email address. See RPL digital collections' user tutorials for info on how to sign up for accounts. To successfully signup for some of our digital collections accounts, you will need to be a Richmond resident with a valid Richmond Public Library card.
