The Young Entrepreneurs Program (YEP) focuses on engaging youth in our community who are interested in becoming entrepreneurs. The program introduces young adults and teens who have a passion for business and want to run their own company in the future. Our goal is to equip young entrepreneurs with the basic knowledge and tools required to help start their journey on being successful in this industry.

Young Entrepreneur 2019

Program Requirements:

  • Participants must be between the ages of 15-19 years old.
  • Participants are required to attend all sessions including the Business Pitches at the Finale.
  • Participants are required to participate in any and all activities in each session.
  • Participants are encouraged to select reading materials from the Book List provided which is meant to enhance understanding of the session topics.
  • Participants are encouraged to have a business idea or concept that they can build on throughout the program.
  • Although optional participants are encouraged to sign a Photo Release Waiver which gives staff the ability to photograph and video tape sessions and use information on social media.

Education Background
My business experience is running my small landscaping business. I have 12 lawn care clients that I service regularly and it keeps me pretty busy after school and over the summer.

Some of my goals are to open a metal fabrication company or car restoration business.

Who/What Inspires You?
Seeing other young entrepreneurs being successful in what business they have launched and/or built.

Name One of Your Mentors in Business and Why?
I don’t really have a mentor per say, but I observe how my dad runs his renovation business and how he interacts with customers and how he deals with situations that arise on a job site.

I have always admired Martin Luther King for his work in combating racial inequality through nonviolent resistance by standing firm to what he believed was right and having a strong faith in God.

Simon Sinek or John Maxwell for their incredible work in writing inspirational, life-changing books that have given my life purpose and a sense of direction.

My goal is to become comfortable with failure. To grow a business internationally.

Who/What Inspires You?
Having immigrant grandparents who despite obvious obstacles and no education, began numerous businesses in Vancouver and were able to support their family in Canada as well as create comfortable foundations for additional family members who immigrated to Canada. These businesses are all still fully functioning and have provided jobs for over 1000 immigrants in Vancouver.

From the age of 5 until Grade 5, I was homeschooled. This September, I will be going into my second year at the Glenn Gould School of Music of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Ontario.

Goals, Aspirations, & Dreams
By the age of 23, my goal is to be a fully established solo concert and recording artist, headlining as a soloist with the world’s elite orchestras in concert venues such as the Hollywood Bowl and Carnegie Hall. My goal through music is to also partner with Pepsi and Starbucks for branding, as well as release my own merchandise such as dress shirts, hair products, and pre-performance drinks.
