Have photos you wish to scan and digitize? Our Epson Flatbed Scanners can also scan slides & negatives. This is a perfect way to store and share cherished memories.
To use our service, please follow these steps:
- Get a free Richmond Public Library Card.
- Follow our online tutorials to learn to use the Scanner Station.
- Book the Scanner Station.
Note: Remember to bring a USB drive or other storage device to save your newly digitized files.

Photo scanning is the process of converting physical images, such as a photographs, slides or negatives, into a digital file that can be stored and edited on a device or computer.
The Richmond Public Library has photo scanners at Brighouse and Ironwood branches. You can learn, create and edit projects at Brighouse and Ironwood on a first-come drop-in basis logging in with your library card.
The Richmond Public Library has an Epson Perfection V750 Pro Scanner at Ironwood Library, and an Epson Perfection V850 Pro Photo Scanner at Brighouse Library.
SilverFast 9, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Audition, Animate, and After Effects are loaded on the photo scanner creation station.
You can create digital copies of your photos, slides and negatives. People are using the scanner creation station to create personalized photo collages, vacation slide shows, cards and more.
Anyone with a free Full Access Richmond Public Library Card can use our library’s equipment, physical collections, programs and services. Members who wish to digitize their own media may use their library card to log in to the photo scanner creation station at the library. There are helpful step by step online tutorial guides, but it is not mandatory to complete these before coming to use the station.
There is no charge for using the Photo Scanning Station.
The time it takes can vary depending on the quantity and quality settings for the media you are scanning. And you will need time to save the digital file to your portable storage device, such as a USB stick or hard drive.
